George studied Dutch private law at the University of Utrecht. He also successfully completed a term at the University of Hull in the United Kingdom, where he became acquainted with the Common Law system. He wrote his thesis on the duty to cooperate that follows from the European Insolvency Regulation and applies between trustees in cross-border insolvency proceedings in Europe.

Work experience
While at university, George worked as a volunteer at the Nieuwegein legal advice centre. In addition, He furthermore worked as an intern at a medium-sized law firm in Utrecht and accepted a position as a student trainee there after his internship. This was followed by a period working as a student trainee in the Corporate Law practice group of a medium-sized law firm in Amsterdam and in the Corporate Litigation practice group of a large law firm, also in Amsterdam.
