Professional career
In 1999 Olav became an attorney at the Intellectual Property Department of the Amsterdam office of an international law firm. In 2007, Olav switched positions to become an in-house counsel. Before joining Certa Legal in January 2012, he worked as General Counsel for an international group of fashion companies.

Olav specializes in Intellectual Property Law, with a focus on trademarks, copyrights, industrial designs and trade names. He has extensive experience in advising and litigating in this area, for both national and European courts, as well as the Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market (OHIM). Olav takes a special interest in parallel import and counterfeit matters. In his role as General Counsel, Olav was also actively involved in (international) commercial partnerships, such as agencies, distributions and franchises.

Olav is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the Benelux Association of Trademark and Design Law (BMM), the Copyright Law Association (VvA), the Netherlands Advertising Law Association (VvRr).
